Sum-Rate Maximization for Intelligent Reflecting Surface Assisted Terahertz Communications

In this paper, an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is deployed to assist the terahertz (THz) communications. The sum-rate of user equipments (UEs) maximized while guaranteeing rate requirement each UE. A block coordinate searching (BCS) algorithm proposed jointly optimize IRS’s coordinates, phase shifts, THz sub-bands allocation and power control. Specifically, relaxation with penalties based (RPB) developed obtain feasible coordinates IRS guarantee monotonicity objective value. addition, shifts are formulated as closed-form expressions introduced pricing factors. Simulation results show that scheme can significantly enhance system performance.
